My elusive Hibiscus

Let me start by telling you that I love flowers.  I love the colors, the smell, how they can brighten up a room or someones day!  There is only one problem...I do not have a green thumb.  I think it is quite the opposite.  Most every plant I have ever come in contact with dies.  A good friend of mine even bought me some kind of flowering cactus because she was told it would not die.  Well guess what?  I KILLED IT!  So here is the story.  We bought a house and did nothing w/ the garden. I did not want to go near it because I knew it would die.  I kept telling my husband to do something with it but he did not have time.  Finally the HOA sent a nasty little letter stating that either we did something or they would at our expense.  So we went and bought some stuff and came home to fix the garden.  I helped my husband in any way I could without actually touching the plants LOL.  So it gets time to put the hibiscus in.  He grabs one and hands it to me to plant.  Before I knew it, it was in my hands.  Well guess what?  Since we planted them (we got 2) it has bloomed once and the one he planted blooms all the time.  My first clue that something was wrong should have been when his started growing up and mine only side ways. Imagine my surprise when I came home this morning and it had 2 flowers on there!!! YAY!!!  Then I looked at the other one (the one my husband planted) and it has 50 million but that is ok because mine actually survived.
